Gross Tonnage: 14,450 approx
Engines: 2 Triple expansion turbines developing 12,300 shp
Speed: 16 Knots


Launched 15th January 1952
Maiden Voyage 2 August 1952
1952: Regular route: London-East Africa
1967 Begins refitting for life as an Educational Cruise Ship
1968 First Educational cruise departs Southampton on 27 Feb
1982 Used as a Hospital ship in the Falklands War
1982 Later re converted to Cruise ship
1983 Again used in Falklands War this time as a Troop ship
1985 Withdrawn from service
1986 Sold to Taiwain ship breakers for scrap
1986 Used as a `Cargo Liner` (renamed `Triton`) until
being wrecked in a Typhoon(22nd Aug 86)
